Who We Are

Representative organization for Vietnamese physicians in Greater Houston.

VAMA-GH is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with more than 70 physicians across primary care and subspecialty practice. Members serve communities from Galveston to The Woodlands and from Sugar Land to Baytown.

The mission is to promote health among the Vietnamese population in Houston and surrounding counties through patient education, preventive health care, continuing medical education for physicians, community health fairs, bone marrow donor drives, and student scholarships.

Community Activities

Annual health fairs, free flu vaccines, education on conditions affecting the Vietnamese community, physician awareness campaigns, and CME participation for members.

Meet the Officers

President

Huong T. Le, M.D.

A primary care physician specializing in Family Medicine for 35 years. She has served VAMA-GH in numerous officer and member roles and on the board of the VAMA-GH Foundation, and was Vice President of VAMA at the national level. She was elected to serve as 2026–2028 President of VAMA-GH.

VP External Affairs

Thao Nguyen, MD

Assistant professor at UTHealth Houston in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. An active VAMA member for 10 years, she has served on the scholarship committee, chaired the scholarship program for four years, and served as VAMA-GH secretary for two years. She aims to broaden VAMA's reach and mentor junior physicians and medical students.

Thai Dang, MD

A nephrologist practicing for 15 years at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic near the Texas Medical Center, first as a hospitalist and now in clinic-based internal medicine. Outside work he coaches his two sons through their sports, plays board games with family, grills, and enjoys racket sports.

Interim Treasurer

Hoa "Kim" Vo, MD

Completed a BS/MD program at Kent State University and Northeast Ohio Medical University, followed by an internal medicine residency at William Beaumont Hospital, Michigan. After 20 years in private practice in internal medicine and aesthetics, she now manages her family office and foundation and serves on the boards of Sunflower Mission and JP Morgan's Client Advisory Council.

Interim Parliamentarian

Doanh Nguyen, MD

Board-certified in allergy and immunology. He earned his BS from the University of Houston and his MD from UT Medical School at Houston, with residency at Case Western Reserve University and fellowship at All Children's Hospital / Johns Hopkins. A Clinical Professor at Baylor College of Medicine since 2015, he specializes in mast cell disorders and has been a dedicated VAMA-GH member for over a decade, previously serving as Secretary and Vice President.
